Polaris Data Centre “Polaris” was built in 2009 by Springfield City Group and represented a breakthrough in data-centre design in Australia.
The facility has been successfully securing Queensland and Australian data for over a decade and has performed when other facilities could not. Since 2009, the facility has undergone continuous improvement, supported by the private owners of the facility, who are committed to ensuring digital infrastructure underpins the development of the Springfield city region. Polaris is also the central node to a strategically designed 720 core, single-mode dark fibre network owned by Springfield City Group. The network is geographically diverse and has dedicated and preconfigured spurs into data centres at Eight Mile Plains, Kenmore and Brisbane City.
Ownership
Springfield City Group, a 100% Queensland owned and operated business, is the sole owner of Polaris. Springfield City Group is the master developer of the Springfield city region, one of Australia’s leading master-planned cities with a total of $19bn invested to date, a population of over 50,000, 12 schools, a public and private hospital, 2x train stations and a major sporting stadium. Polaris receives regular investment to maintain the highest resilience, security and operational standards expected by corporate and Government customers.

Facility management is provided by Veolia, a global leader in data centre management. Veolia’s team of specialists maintain optimal operational efficiency, occupational health and safety, as well as reducing environmental footprints. In addition, they focus on water, waste and energy management, including providing reliable energy-efficient solutions, controls systems and power supply.
